Acids, Bases and Salts, APPLICATIONS - Coggle Diagram
Acids, Bases and Salts
ACIDS
Types: Strong acids (HCl, H₂SO₄) and weak acids (acetic acid).
Examples: Hydrochloric acid (HCl), Sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄), Acetic acid (CH₃COOH).
-
Properties: Sour taste, corrosive, turns blue litmus red.
BASES
Properties: Bitter taste, slippery, turns red litmus blue.
Examples: Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), Potassium hydroxide (KOH), Ammonium hydroxide (NH₄OH).
-
Types: Strong bases (NaOH, KOH) and weak bases (NH₄OH).
SALTS
-
Properties: Can be neutral, acidic, or basic depending on their parent acid and base.
Examples: Sodium chloride (NaCl), calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), ammonium chloride (NH₄Cl).
Types: Normal salts, acidic salts, and basic salts.
INDICATORS
-
Examples: Litmus, phenolphthalein, methyl orange.
Color Changes: Litmus (red in acid, blue in base), phenolphthalein (colorless in acid, pink in base).
