Vitreous China
- A glazing technique that is added to porcelain
- A glass based enamel coating that makes things more durable, denser & shinier.
- To create a liquid called vitreous enamel, large amount of heat is applied to powdered glass.
Chromium Metal
- Steely-grey, shinning, hard & brittle transition metal.
- Main additive in stainless steel
- Adds anti-corrosive properties.
- Able to be highly polished while resistant to lose shininess
How toilet seat is made?
Plastic seat
- Polystyrene Pellets into a hopper attached to an injection moulding machine
- The seat & cover were removed from the mould
- The seat & cover then placed into a water bath
- Holes drilled for the hinges & the rough edges sanded at a sanding machine
Toilet bowl
- Pottery factory receives vitreous china
- It is pumped into mould (made from plaster of Paris)
- The casting becomes semisolid, called greenware
- Greenware goes into a dryer to reduce moisture
- Sprayed with glazed afterwards & goes into a klin
- Removed from the klin then it is cooled & flushing mechanism is installed
