Queer theory, while emerging later in the learning sciences, offers valuable insights into human learning, identity, & methodology. It challenges dominant norms of gender & sexuality, proposing that learning environments should consider how these norms are co-constructed through lived experiences, societal expectations, & institutional structures like education. By centering gender & sexuality, queer theory pushes the boundaries of traditional sociocultural theories, offering new ways to understand human action & learning that are inclusive of diverse identities.
