You can switch through lenses up to 5 times in level
Lenses show the future, past, and present
If you're too slow you wont be able to see where the guy went, so you'll have to guess

Later there will also be coloured lenses, with objects in that colour only showing up in said lenses (3 max and i'll increase switch count)
