7.Functions of the Institute
(a)
to ascertain an individual's eligibility for membership;
(b) to provide :-
(i) Training, education, and testing by the Institute or another body for potential members.
(ii) Provide training and professional development opportunities for chemical practitioners in Malaysia.
(c)
to control how members of the Malaysian chemistry profession practice their craft;
(d)
to raise public awareness and appreciation of the field of chemistry and to emphasis the value of the chemistry profession;
(f)
to provide members or their dependents with whatever financial or other support it deems appropriate in order to safeguard or advance members' welfare;
(g)
to work together on chemistry-related issues with other government agencies, national and international professional associations, national and international scientific organization, and higher education institutions;
(h)
to cooperate closely with academics, other professional bodies, and the industry to offer the public expert opinion, advice, and consultation on national and international issues;
(i)
to accept or reject, in line with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency Act 2007 [Act 679], the accreditation of chemistry and chemistry-related programs in Malaysian public and private higher education institutions;
(j)
to advise the Minister on issues concerning chemistry and chemical-related professionals; and
(k)
to encourage advancements in the sciences and applications of chemistry and chemistry-related fields.
