GORD children - Coggle Diagram

- - - - if GOR or GORD suspected in infant or young child, ask about: onset symptoms, age, first presentation, duration, aggravating and relieving factors
      - onset of regurgitation and/or vomiting after 6 months of age or persisting after one year may indicate alternative DX
      - ask about: bottle feeding/breast feeding, formula used, volume, time, frequency, duration of feed and volume consumed over 24 hours,
      - wet and dirty nappies, any red flag features that may indicate alternative DX
      - family history of gastrointestinal conditions or risk factors
      - previous treatment/interventions
      - how parent is coping
      - check observations, assess for dehydration, alertness, examine mouth, examine abdomen for discomfort, distention, palpable mass, examine chest for respiratory signs
      - review infant or child's neurodevelopmental history, weight and growth
      - arrange for feeding assessment
      - be aware there is no simple, reliable and accurate diagnostic test to confirm whether the condition is GOR or GORD
