you need to keep a record of all of your search( the words that you search with and the hits that you get every time, the databases that you search in and the date that you searched that database. keep a very good record of this so that it can be rerun

break down question into key concepts using PICO, identify subject headings (MESH) for each concept is applicable, identify text words for each concept
TIPS: use a target article or previous review to help identify search terms that they have used. Use a work sheet to keep track of the your terms that you using across each data base. check you key words with your supervisors
