Celestial Bodies
Stars
-
- Nebula is a cloud of dust and gas. Stars form when this is pulled together by gravity. Friction produces heat - nuclei of hydrogen form together.
- There is now a yellow dwarf. Remains stable for millions of years until it runs out of hydrogen fuel.
- Fusion slows down and the temperature decreases, expanding the star into a red giant.
- Inner core of the star collapses under gravity and the very hot and dense white dwarf is formed
- When the white dwarf fades and fusion reactions stop, becomes a black dwarf
Planets
A planet is an object that is in orbit around a star, has enough mass to maintain a round shape, and has enough gravity to clear debris in its orbit

-
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars
Gas giants
-
-
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
Comets

The coma which is a fuzzy outline, is made of carbon dioxide, dust and water vapour
