Crisis in rural Russia: despite good harvests, there were bread shortages and high food prices all over Russia. Peasant refused to sell their produce at prices fixed by the state. Consequently, there were riots and forced grain collectioin.
Bukharin and NEP
Lenin's death resulted in a power struggle between a power struggle, Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev, and Stalin. Bukharin initially allied with Stalin to defeat Trotsky but later found himself increasingly isolated as Stalin shifted towards more radical policies
Stalin advocated for rapid industrialisation and collectivsation, labelling Bukharin and his supporters as "Right deviationists."
Bukharin's calls for a gradual approach to socialism and his slogan "Enrich yourselves!" became points of attack for Stalin, who portrayed them as capitalist deviations threatening the revolution.
