Year 1
Animals including humans
In Year 1, we learnt about different species of animals and designed our own new animal. We also studied growth changes in animals and humans and brought in our baby photos to see how much we've changed.
Light and Shadow
We had a go at creating our own shadow puppets and performed with them.
Sir David Attenborough
Our science week focus person in Year 1 was Sir David Attenborough. We created a biography on him, showcasing all we had learnt about him.
Seasonal change
We looked at how things change through the seasons.
Year 5
The water cycle
In Year 5, one of our school trips was to the River and Rowing Museum and deepened our knowledge on the water cycle. We also practised a song to help us remember how the water cycle functions. We sang this song in our Class Assembly.
Marainne North
For Year 5, our science week focus person was the botanist and artist, Marianne North. We had a go at drawing and painting flowers in her style.
chemical reactions
We learnt about chemical reactions. We did an experiment with mentos and Coca-Cola . We also made ublec to see that it looks solid but it isn’t when you touch it.
Animals including humans
In Year 5, we learnt about the gestation period, the amount of time it takes for the baby to fully form and come out of the mother. We compared the human gestation period to other animal's, finding out why some gestation periods are bigger than some other's.
Year 2
In Year 2, we learnt about how long it takes for a plant to grow. We did an experiment to see how long it takes for a plant to grow. We grew the plants in different places around the classroom.
Habitats
We looked at where different animals live.
Waterproof Materials
We tested out multiple materials to find out whether or not they were waterproof. We also had a go at designing our own waterproof capes.
