During worship, Hindus use many items that are kept on a Puja tray
this includes a bell, a pot of water, a diva lamp, an incense burner,
a pot of kum kum powder, and a spoon
Puja involves offering light,
incense, flowers and food to the deities
During Puja, the Hindus first ring the bell to let the god know that they are about to worship them. They then light the diva lamp to bring light to the shrine- this is a symbol of gods presence. They then light an incense stick and move it around the shrine to cleanse it and bring a nice smell to the shrine to please the gods. Next, they offer water to the gods on a spoon to show respect. They then make a paste and make a mark on their forehead to show that god has blessed them.
