Anja was a woman from a well off family, before the war they have a son that they called Richieu, after the war vladek and Anja dicide to emigrated to United State where they have another son Artie. Anja decide to suicide, that represent a devastiing event for Vladek
Was born in Poland
This two aspects of Vladek´s life was to important, when the nazi ocuppation in Poland occurs, he already khow the danger that they stay there because during that time, Jews Faced severe oppresions, beginning with discriminatory laws and scalating to forced relocations into ghettos
His son Richieu
Richieu was son of Vladek and Anja, he was sent to live with relatives to keep him safe but during the war he died
Historical Influences
Concentration Camps
When Vladek were deported to Auschwitz, that was one of the most notorious concentration camps. The description of the place was that conditions were brutal, with forced labor and constant threat of death, Vladek new to apply his skills and adapt to his life conditions.
Ghettos
Jews were relocated to ghettos, which were overcrowded, during this time, Vladek and his family experienced deprivation and constant theat of violence in the ghettos
Nazi occupation
The invasion of Poland marked the beginning of World War Two; this brought Vladek and millions of Jews under Nazi control, which caused restrictions of Jewish life, including forced relocations
Post-War Displacement
After the war, Vladek and Anja decide to emigrate to United State, both of them had to rebuild their lives, during this time both suffer the challenges of starting over in a new country, and fighting with his traumas of the war
