Vectors are quantities that have both magnitude and direction (e.g., velocity, force).
Scalars are quantities that only have magnitude without direction (e.g., temperature, mass).
The Pythagorean theorem for vectors is used to calculate the magnitude (length) of a vector in two or three dimensions.

-
Graphically: Arrows, where length indicates magnitude, and direction shows the vector's orientation.
-
-
-
Graphical method: Place vectors tip-to-tail, then draw the resultant from the tail of the first to the tip of the last.
