        Star topologies are where every device or client on the local area network are connected to a central switch / hub. This switch is then connected to the server.

        Faster data transfer to hub as each wire isn't shared.
        
        If one computer fails other computers aren't affected.

        Requires additional hardware such as additional central switch and network cables.
        
        If the central switch fails the whole network goes down.
      - Mesh
        
        Mesh topologies are where every client and device on the local area network are connected to one another directly through network cables.

        No single point of failure so is resiliant.
        
        expansion and modification can be done without disrupting the network.
        
        data can be transmitted from different devices simultaneously.

        Can involve redundant connections
        
        Expensive to install cabling if using wired connections.
        
        network maintenance and administration is difficult.
        
        Partial mesh topologies are where computers are connected through each other but not all computers / devices are connected directly to each other.

        less expensive than full mesh networks as less network cables are required between each computer.

        slower data transmision as data has to go through different computers to get to other computers on the network.
