Mussolini declared war on France and Britain to expand his colonies in Africa. he invaded Egypt from their colony of Libya. Mussolini already controlled Libya but he also wanted Egypt because of the Suez Canal that was an important marine route that British took control of
Hitler realised that he would have to help the Italian troops to fight this war. On the 11th of February 1941, General Rommel landed in Tripoli, Africa Korps
