Natural Material
Natural materials are substances that occur in nature without human intervention. They are derived from plants, animals, minerals, or geological processes.
-
Usage
Wood: Used in construction (furniture, buildings), paper production, and crafts.
Cotton: Used in textiles (clothing, bed linens) and medical supplies (bandages).
Leather: Used in clothing (jackets, shoes), upholstery, and accessories (bags, belts).
Process
Wood: Cut down trees, then shape the wood into boards for use.
Cotton: Pick cotton from plants, clean it, and spin the fibers into thread for making fabric.
Leather: Take animal skins, clean and treat them to make them soft and durable.
Synthetic Material
Synthetic materials are man-made substances created through chemical processes. They are typically derived from petroleum products or other raw materials.
-
Usage
Plastic: Used in packaging (bottles, containers), household items (toys, furniture), and automotive parts.
Nylon: Used in textiles (clothing, ropes), carpets, and various industrial applications (gear, parts).
Polyester: Used in clothing (shirts, dresses), home furnishings (curtains), and industrial fabrics.
Process
Plastic: Combine small chemical pieces (monomers) to make long chains (polymers) that can be shaped into various items.
Nylon: Mix two chemicals to create a strong fiber, which can be made into clothes or other products.
Polyester: Combine two chemicals to form a long chain that can be used to make fabric or plastic bottles.
