Lock and Key Model
Enzymes are complex shapes that allow smaller molecules to fit inside of them. This is called the active site.
The shape of the active site matches the shape of its substrate molecules, making the enzymes highly specific (each type of enzyme can only catalyse for one type of reaction.)
If the shape of the enzyme changes, then the active site may no longer work (the denaturing of the enzyme.)
