Denial of service (DoS)
A DoS is an attempt to make a computer network unavailable to users.
The network is flooded by network traffic.
It usually happens on an internet site or service
The internet site or service is stopped from functioning efficiently or at all.
This can be temporary or permanent.
Hacking
Finding out weaknesses in a computer system
These weaknesses are then exploited
Unauthorised access can be one result of hacking
There are three main types of hacking.

White hat hacking
where permission is given to hack into systems to identify loopholes and weaknesses
Grey Hat Hacking
hacking into systems for ‘fun’ or to ‘troll'
Black hat hacking
Malware
malicious software
installed on computer devices without the user’s knowledge
the software collects information
there are many different types of malware.

Trojan horse
virus
worm
Social engineering
Social engineering is:
the art of manipulating people
done to find out confidential information
there are many types of social engineering.
