The education level increase causing the

which lowers the birth rate.
Low education level from both parents result higher fertility rate. Education level results in economy situations, and bad situations result in huge family size.

Agricultural Revolution
During the 1700's, humans started to apply technology to farming. This meant more food per area of land. More food means better nutrition, which increased life expectancy, so the global population started to go up.

Industrial Revolution
This revolution causes in an increase in social economy, thus changing fertility rate and birth rate. Women with better education levels tend to marry later, which leads to a growth stop.
So the new technology in farming meant less people had to work as farmers. They moved to the city for jobs in factories, usually making fabric.
The industrial revolution brought many new technological advances. Steam engine, electricity, medicine, vaccines, sanitation ( underground sewer systems).

Countries with more elderly people results in a decrease in population, such as Japan.
