RAM and ROM
Components of the CPU
Control Unit (CU)
Sends signals to components to coordinate the activities of the CPU.
Clock
Keeps components sychronised

Buses
Data Bus
Carries data between main memory and the CPU
Control Bus
Carries commands and signals around the CPu and between the CPU and main memory.
Address Bus
Carries the address of the memory location for the CPU to main memory.
Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)
Performs mathematical and logical calculations
Registers
High-speed, directly accessible areas that temporary hold information to execute the next instruction in the CPU.
Cache
Holds most used data files from an application so progress is not lost when the computer shuts down.
