Because of new tech in framing less people needed to work as a farmer so the shift began from the farm to the city.
People moved to the city to get jobs in the new factories running on steam power created by burning coal. Amazing new technology was created in the city. The steam engine, generated electricity by burning coal and creating steam, new medicine and vaccines, better nutrition, underground sewer systems, flush toilets. All these advances in technology meant people were living longer and the infant mortality began to decrease so the population of the planet grew very quickly. Fast global growth rate.

Agricultural Revolution
Healthier food
In about 1700 humans started to apply technology to farming, this meant more food could be grown per farm, more food equals healthier people which means people die much later in life.

Economy
Living in a country with a high economy reduces the need for a large family because there are more opportunities for jobs. When women get good access to education they are more empowered to get a good job and this means they will get married and have kids later in life.

Education
Higher levels of education means that women get out of school later and have kids later in life, lower levels of education mean the women get out of school young so they have lots of time to have kids.
