Ray Bradbury (born August 22, 1920, Waukegan, Illinois, U.S. died June 5, 2012, Los Angeles, California) was an American author. Best known for his imaginative short stories and novels with nostalgia, social criticism, and concerns about runaway technology. By the 1970s, Bradbury shifted from writing short fiction to focusing on poetry and drama. Earlier in his career, he sold several mystery short stories. His final novel, Farewell Summer (2006), was a sequel to Dandelion Wine. Bradbury adapted 59 of his short stories for the television series The Ray Bradbury Theatre (1985–1992).
