Introduction
Hook: Attention getter
Background: Context on what you're writing about
Lead in: begin leading into your argument
Thesis: the argument of the essay that is followed up by evidence
Body paragraphs
Topic Sentence: Mini thesis that explains what the paragraph is going to be about
Unpack topic sentence: take a couple sentences to expand on the topic sentence
Provide evidence: using reputable sources, provide quotations with in-text citations to back up claim
Explain evidence: pasting a quotation isn't enough for the readers to understand why the quotation is there. You need to explain its importance
Prove objective: tie back to the thesis of the paper and explain how in providing this topic it helps prove your argument.
Provide a transition: transitions help move the reader along and so they aren't lost while reading.
