We can also use
get
instead of
be
It's more informal than the normal passive
often use to talk about bad things
We can use the passive in a relative clauses to add more information
which/who/that + be + past participle (+by + person
)
They love the kind of milk chocolate that is made in Belgium.
She lives in a house that was built by her grandfather.
Sometimes verb have two object, usually direct object is the thing, indirect object is usually the person who receives the thing
in this case, we can make two passive sentences
I gave John the book
John was given the book by me
The book was given to John by me
Both are same meaning, it's question of emphasis
bring, buy, cook, get, give, lend, make, offer, pass, promise, read, send, show, teach, take, tell, write
The causative verb with
have
and
get
is similar to using a passive
I had my house clean
Don't focus on who did, the important thing is the house is now clean
subject + have (in any tenses) + object + past participate
can use
get
instead of
have
, it's more informal
