The ratio of older to younger children can affect the population growth because if people in a country are older, people are making less babies and it won't sustain the growth in population. For example, in Mexico, it is predicted to grow faster than Japan, since the population is younger and produces more babies.
More people are younger in Mexico so Mexico is going to have more growth.
More people in Japan are older so Japan is going to experience a decline in growth.

ECONOMY
When the economy is steady and the money is flowing in, the population may not have a need for a large family. There are more opportunities for jobs and earning money. Therefore, fertility rates are down and the growth rate is slowing.

Armenia has the world's highest ratio between women to men in employment and in Armenia, they have an average of 1.758 births per woman, which means families are smaller and growth is slowing.

Education
As more women and people are getting educated by a better education system, the marriage rate increases, making the population growth increase. However, if a mainly older female population has babies, the growth rate will be lower because an older population tends to have fewer children.
