Global Population Growth:
Age of Population
The population of younger and older people in a population affect how fast it grows. Countries that are generally young will have faster growth rates
Countries that are generally old will have slower growth rates.
Brazil
Brazil is generally a younger country therefore the country will have faster growth rates because the women are younger and have more kids so they are growing faster.
-
Japan
Japan's population is older and so is the country therefore they have slower growth rates than the younger countries because women are older so they don't have any more kids.

Health
Industrial Revolution
New technology means you need fewer farmers so people moved to the city. This began the industrial revolution and new technology steam engine and Sanitation, medicine, vaccines, better nutrition, all of this means less babies are dying and more people living longer,( lower infant mortality and longer life expectancy) so the global population went up.

-
Agricultural Revolution
During the agricultural revolution technology was applied to farming to grow more food on the same area of land.
When there was less food more people died so the population decreased but when farmers started to grow crops people weren't staving anymore so the population rate went up and less people got sick.

Empowering Women
When women do not have good access to to education they will get married at a younger age and have more kids( High fertility rate), But if they have good access to education they will get a job, then have a good career, then get married and then have kids, so they would only have 2-3 kids( Low fertility rate). This would make population lower in some countries than others.
Economy
In poor countries where many people are farmers it can be financially advantageous to have more children, so fertility rates trend to be high in poor farming economies.
In wealthy countries where most women are working people tend to get married at older ages and therefore have fewer children (lower fertility)
-
Education
When women do not have good access to education they often get married young and start a family, resulting in more years of having babies, which results in higher fertility. Think Somalia, 2.5 years of school, 6 children per mom.
