Social Attitudes
Different cultures have different standards for family size. If large families are common, then the population growth may be higher. Depending on the country you live in, there are different versions of what makes a normal family size. In North America, 2 or 3 kids is normal.
Kenya is way smaller than Canada, but it has more people than Canada.
Kenya: It is normal for Kenya to have 5 or 6 kids in Kenya which means the population in Kenya grows faster than most countries.

Canada: In Canada, to have 2 or 3 kids is normal. This means the population does not grow as fast.

Education
When women do not have good access to education, they often get married young and start a family, resulting in more years of having babies, which results in higher fertility.

Economy
So in poor countries where many people are farmers, it can be financially advantageous to have more children. So fertility rates tends to be high in poor farming economies. In wealthy countries where most women are working, people tend to get married at older ages and therefore have fewer children (lower fertility).
