Group of Seven (G7)
The group of Seven began to meet in 1973. It is made up of the seven countries in the world (United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Canada).
For many years, Russia was part of the G7, which was then called G8, However, following the annexation of Crimea in 2014, the other members announced that Russia would no longer be included in the meetings.
Brics (Brazil, Russia, India, China and Soth Africa)
In their meetings, they discuss how to reform the international organisations to better reflect the current importance of these countries in the world economy.
Regional organisations
Countries arounde the world take part in international organisations. They work together to encourage political and economic cooperation within particular regions of the world.
European Union (EU)
The final goal of the European Union is to incorporate all of its members into a single state. *In 2016, the UK voted for leave EU.

Economic Organisations
There are a number of economic organisations that have specifc aims. These include trade organisationd such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
The World Bank
The World Bank, whose main activty is to provide loans to governments so that they can carry out reform projects and progammes in their countries.
Both the IMF and the World Bank receive a lot of criticism. According to their critics, these organisations give unfair advantages to powerful nations.
