The mark 4 tank was the turning point as they had a light machine gun and many other weapons, there was 8 soldiers required to be inside the tank 4 of which had to drive it.

The mark 5 helped the British a lot in the Battle of Ames. This tank only required 1 person the drive it instead of 4 people.
The Germans didn't think it wasn't very manly to have a tank and they thought that it was quicker to walk instead of driving in the tank

originally the pilots would shoot at each other with pistols then with the next generation of aircrafts there was machine guns attached to the planes but this was not very useful as you had to reload the machine gun by getting up on the wing so with the next generation of planes had a mechanism where the bullets would fire with the crank of the propeller so they would only fire when the propeller was not in front of the cannon
