Properties of matter
Depending on the size of matter
Intensive
They depend on the amount of the object. The bigger the material is, the higher the value is.
Extensive
They don't depend on the amount of the object. We measure the same amount, it doesn't matter how big material is.
Ex: d= m/V
d= 20kg/4L = 5 kg/L
d= 10kg/2L = 5kg/L
Depending on the way we measure
Qualitative
We don't use instruments to measure.Described with adjectives
Examples: Color: yellow, green, blue... Texture: hard, soft, dull...
Quantitative
Measured with an instrument. Have a numeric value. Value is given as VALUE+UNIT
Examples: Mass: m=5kg; m=6g Temperature: 25ºC; 6ªF
Depending on the importance to identify matter.
General
They're in all types of matter. They can have any value. They don't allow identifying matter.
Ex: Mass, volume, temperature...
Specific
They have a specific value for every substance. They allow us identifying matter.
Ex: Density...
