Torturing Native Americans by:
- Taking them as slaves.
- Eating their food.
- Destroying whatever they have.
- Torturing pregnant women and old people and children.
- Burning them alive.
- cutting their hand.
- Using Dogs to kill them out of fear.
- Force them to stay under water searching for pearls.

The purpose of it:
- Erasing the identity & history of indigenous people.
- cutting ties & relationships among the family members.
Why?
To ensure that their identity, culture, morals are not passed on to the future generations. So, this land belongs to them ( Christians ) As it referred in De las casas’ text.
Moreover, it’s noticeable that they used the language of authority, control, ownership. (Heckewelder’s text)p.106
