Where vegetables come from
Different vegetable farms.
Watch a video of farmers growing crops on different farms ie. potato farm, and have a short discussion about it.
Where different vegetables grow.
Vegetables that grow in sunny areas
and vegetables that grow in shady areas.
Learners are presented with a chart, displaying vegetables that grow in sunny areas and vegetables that grow in areas with shade. For the activity, learners will cut out pictures of the vegetables in food catalogues and sort them in to their respective categories (sunny veggies and shady veggies) on a landscape A3 paper.

exploring different tools used for farming such as shovels, hoes and watering systems.
Taste and textures of vegetables
Distinguishing the difference between raw and cooked vegetables.
the teacher will present the learners with a variety of cut up vegetables and display it on a table for the learners to touch them. the teacher will display the same veggies on the table, except the veggies are cooked. the learners are then asked to describe the texture of the cooked veg, compared to the raw ones.
Different types of vegetables.
Root vegetables and stem vegetables.
Learners are presented with a diagram of
root vegetables and stem vegetables. they are now able to distinguished between the two. for the activity, learners will be tasked to sort the assorted veggies into a root veg and stem veg piles.
