NATO originally had 12 founding members (the United States, Canada, and ten Western European nations). As of now, it has 31 member countries, including: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, Bulgaria, Croatia, Albania, North Macedonia, Sweden,with Finland being the most recent addition in April 2023.
