Specialised cells: RED:Animal GREEN:Plant
Nerve cell
sends electronic pulses around the body to tell organs/musles/bodyparts what to do
is found all around the body but are concentrated around the brain and spinal cord
Animal
Sperm cell
is found in the testicles/penis
fertilize the egg of a woman for repoduction
animal
Palisade cell
absorbs light for photosynthesis
found in leaves
plant cell
Ciliated cell
sweep mucus up the throat
located in the throat
animal
Red Blood cell
This is found in the blood and in veins and arteries
Absorbs oxygen to send to body parts
Animal cell
root hair cell
the job of the root hair cell is to increase the surface area of a plant's root system to absorb water and nutrients from the soil
this is found in the roots
plant
Phloem Cells
Found in stem leaves and roots
Phloem cells transport food products, such as sucrose and amino acids, from the leaves to other parts of the plant. This process is called translocation.
Collenchyma cells
Found in growing parts of plants
Collenchyma cells are elongated cells with thickened cell walls that provide structure and support for plants. There are four types of collenchyma cells: tangential, annular, lacunar, and angular. They are characterized by the thickness of their cell walls and the amount of intercellular space around them.
