Tool Control - Coggle Diagram
Tool Control
Small tracking tags could be attached to each of the tools
Makes it easy to find tools if they go missing
Makes it easier to see if all the tools are back in the toolbox
Tags could be damaged whilst the tool is in use however
Tool tidies are used to keep tools that are out of the tool box together
Tools are less likely to be mislaid whilst a task is being performed as long as they are all kept in the tidy when not in use
Tools need to be kept track of when used around aircraft
Tally system can be used, making it clear when a tool is missing
Doesn't help to locate a missing tool
Method is subject to human error
Someone could forget to place the tally
Workers don't realise a tool is missing
Tally could be placed in the wrong slot
Time is wasted looking for the wrong tool
Tools could be placed back in the wrong place
Time wasted looking for a tool that isn't actually missing
To resolve this, the detection process can be automated
LDR circuit could be used, using an LED to indicate when all tools are present
If tools go missing in a workshop, any aircraft inside that workshop at the time can't move until the tool is found
Potential that the tool could cause serious damage to the aircraft if it was sucked into and enigne
Aircraft needs to be fixed
Expensive
Delays
Wastes time
Slows down the completion of other tasks
Screw bags are used to keep fittings together
Losing tools means they need to be replaced
Work cannot be performed if the required tool is missng
Wastes money
People working on the aircraft could be fitted with bodycams
Shows what they have been doing and where they have been working
If a tool is misplaced footage may show where it is
Saves time
Some tools with mltiple different sizings could be condensed down into a single mutlti-tool
Less tools that have the potential to be lost
Tools could be tethered to the person using them
Makes it more difficult to misplace the tool
Tether creates a safety hazard however
A tool being dragged behind a worker is a safety hazard
Also has the potential to cause damage to the aircraft
