Autumn - Coggle Diagram

- - - - ACTIVITY:
      - Engage - I will place a discovery table in the classroom with natural science items in autumn for the learners to engage with.
      - Design - I will take the learners outside to find different autumn items like different leaves or anything they can find.
      - Conduct - I will ask the learners to make a collage with al of their findings from outside.
      - Communicate - The learners will present their collages to the classroom and share their findings.
  - - - ACTIVITY:
      - Engage - I will read the book "The Busy Little Squirrel" and ask the learners questions based on the book.
      - Design - I will ask the learners to draw a squirrel and ask them to draw how they think a squirrel prepares for winter from the book we read.
      - Conduct - We will play a game where I ask the learners mimic how certain animals prepare for autumn. The learners could mimic storing foods, sleeping and flying.
      - Communicate - I will ask the learners what their favorite that animal prepares for autumn and I will ask them to present their pictures.

      - I will show the learners a video about how autumn affects people based on food and clothing and i will show the learners pictures of different foods we eat and different warmer clothing we wear in autumn.
      - I will then ask the learners to draw a picture of themselves in their favorite autumn clothing and eating their favorite winter foods.
  - - - ACTIVITY:
        
        I will ask the learners if they know any celebrations that happen in South Africa in autumn.
        
        I will speak to the learners about Freedom Day, Heritage Day and Easter and show them pictures.
        
        I will ask them to draw a picture of what they do on that day or what they wear or what they do with their families.
        
        I will then ask the learners to present their pictures and explain them.

      - Investigate - I will show the learners a video about farmers harvesting their crops and what tools they use to harvest.
      - Design - I will ask the learners questions about what tools they think are best to use when harvesting and i will ask them to draw a picture.
      - Make - I will provide the learners with the best materials to create their own harvesting tool.
      - Evaluate - The learners will then test their tools outside to see if they could make changes.
      - Communicate - The learners will show their tools to the class and how they made it.
    - - Autumn is the season of crops and harvest. Harvesting is when a crop has grown and is ready to eat and the farmer must collect the crop. Apples, lemons, pumpkins, strawberries and much more are harvested using shovels, spades, rake or machines. (Fun Kids, 2023)
  - - - ACTIVITY:
      - Investigate - I will ask the learners prior knowledge questions on how they think farmers store food and what happens in the farmers do not store food. I will then show the learners a video on farmers storing food.
      - Design - I will ask the learners to draw a picture of a way that they could store food.
      - Make - I will provide the learners with the right materials to create a storage container.
      - Evaluate - I will ask the learners to place a certain food in the container and we will then leave the containers for half a week.
      - Communicate - The learners will present their storage boxes and open them to show the class how well their food kept.
