When people eat food they experience it through multiple senses. This multisensory experience can be affected through various ways such as how the food is grown, preserved (Hoppu, Puputti & Sandell 2021).

There have been many methods when it comes to how foods have been preserved the most common before fridges were invented was salting and drying, nowadays it is freezing (Desrosier & Sijngh 2004).

Activity: It will be demonstrated in class how biltong is made and the learners will be able to record their observations weekly.
Colour and shape
All vegetables have different colours and shapes to them as it is to do with their growing Environment as well as the nutrients in the soil (Editorial 2024).

Activity: The learners with the help of the teacher will make a collage with the different sizes and colours of vegetables
Social Science
Cultural Significance
Many different cultures use the same vegetables in different ways like potatoes. In the Islamic culture they are used as a starch ingredient in curries and are left whole or cut in half.

Activity: Learners will bring a dish that they make in their culture to share with the class. They will tell the class what it is and also if they have any significance with it.
