A vegetables life begins with a seed, which grows until a flower spout out. The plant grows in size with more leaves that produce. The plant then produces the vegetable which then matures and grows into a big vegetable (Brown,2017).
Activity: learners to plant a bean seed in class and observe its growth over weeks
Sub topic 2: Nutritional benefits of vegetables
vegetables have the following benefits: reduce inflammation, helps the heart maintain the blood pressure, a good source of fiber for gut health, protects the eyes, maintains healthy glowing skin and reduces the risk of cancer (Valente,2023).
Vegetable taste test chart and benefit grouping: teacher to bring a few vegetable testers for students to taste and classify and compare how the vegetable will support their healthy body.

Subtopic 1: Tools for planting and harvesting vegetables
Hand trowels, pruning shears, garden gloves, rake, garden spade, garden shovel, wheelbarrow, hosepipe.(Better Gardners Guide,2024)
Activity: Students to investigate and design on an A3 paper, the tools needed for planting and harvesting vegetables
Sub topic 2: using apps to track vegetable growth
Garden manager, Gardena, Smart gardener, Grow veg gardenplanner,planter (Mac Arthur,2024).
Teacher and students to evaluate a few garden apps and show students the benefits each app has. Teacher to use one app to track the students bean seed progress.

Sub topic 1:Importance of local farming
It diversifies local farming, ensures food security, alleviates unemployment, increases income and improves human health (Louw,2024).
Students to think of vegetables that South Africa grows, teacher to show pictures of vegetables grown in South Africa and the habitat required for these vegetables.
Sub topic 2: Cultural dishes featuring vegetables
Kafteji -Tunesia, Misir Wat-Etheopia, Morogo- South Africa (Atlas Media,2024).
