-
- The volcano erupts, destroying villages and crushing countless people under the earth. Azucena, a 13-year-old girl, is trapped in the mud. She can't move and struggles to stay alive as she waits for rescue. Rolf, a journalist who came to cover the situation, broadcasts her on camera. Rolf treats her as a reporter, but he gradually feels compassion for her.
- He tries and tries to woo her, but due to various issues, he is unable to save her. In the process, Rolf is reminded of a past he had forgotten. He recalls the war and domestic violence he suffered, and ultimately reflects on his own pain. His scars and pain, hidden behind the camera, begin to emerge through Azucena.
- In the end, Azucena is close to death, and she loses the strength to live. But Rolf stays by her side to the end and is a great support. He offers her warm comfort and accepts her grief and death for not being able to save her. Azucena's death is peaceful.
