Bone Kinetics - Coggle Diagram
Bone Kinetics
Chemical Composition
-
Osteoblasts
builds new bone, differentiates into osteocytes
Osteocytes
lays down matrix, mature bone cells
-
Organic vs. Inorganic
Organic: Collagen- material found in all types of connective tissues. This is primarily Type 1 (bone)
Inorganic: Hydroxyapatite (HA)- calcium phosphate based (PG's strongly bind to HA due to osteocalcin)
-
Response to Stress
When any weight bearing bone takes on stress it creates a stretch on one side of the bone and a compression on the other side. New bone is then created from that load on both the stretch and compression side.
