Impacts of physical exercise on cortisol levels - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Subjective quantitative data is as the name suggests, data that is based on opinion and personal belief, recorded in numerical form. This can be regarding topics such as enjoyment of an activity, rating a song, etc. Not as reliable as an objective point of view, however, some reliability does credit due to the same material being handed to participants.
    - - Objective quantitative data is perceived as incredibly reliable, being measured through a numerical format, selected without any form of bias or element of opinion, eliminating any subjective perspectives.
    - - Qualitative data is typically harder and not always reliably represented through numerical values. Typically recorded in observable descriptions, audio recordings, visual imagery and potentially emotions, qualitative data specifically focuses on personality/individual rich information that can benefit the research point of a particular study.
- - - - By ensuring that all cortisol relevant testing is done and held within the same laboratory and clinical facility, the method of testing is not only controlled, but the likelihood of tampering and misconduct varying between trials is almost entirely eliminated, as any potential error percentage would reflect identically across all trials. All testing will be conducted via the same medium, such as saliva swabbing, urine samples or blood sampling.
  - - - The quantity/duration, intensity and form of physical exercise being undertaken by participants must be held at a constant, this means that participants are to preferably be of the same physique and activity level in order to increase the probability of establishing notable trends once data has been collated. By holding these factors at a near constant, the cortisol levels of each individual can be manipulated to either increase or decrease depending on the amount of physical activity done.
- - - - Ability to manipulate independent and dependent variables
      - Typically controlled environment, resultantly less likelihood for extraneous variables.
    - - Difficult to make environment 'seamless' and easy going for participants to act naturally.
      - Extraneous participant variables may hinder experimenting, such as behavioral traits and mannerisms.
  - - - Allows participants to act freely and in a natural state without doubting or faking behaviors.
      - You may be able to implement control groups within the experiment to further analyze participants traits and responses to certain situations and scenarios.
    - - Liability of observations made can be questioned.
      - The approach taken by those observing the participants can be weak or misguided.
- - - - Records of names and commercially sensitive information are to be kept undisclosed and kept from the public, information may need to be recorded for safety however the administer in duty of care is responsible for keeping participant anonymity.
    - - Guaranteeing that no form of long term mental of physical damage is to occur or be faced by participants within the investigation, such as traumas, violence, pre-existing conditions etc.
    - - Participants have the free will to withdraw from an investigation at any given time point. This not only allows the participant to feel comfortable participating but also feel in control when potentially uncomfortable
    - - Consenting must be undergone by an individual of age and mental state. Participants must be provided with relevant information on what is to occur within the investigation.
