My father promised me that he would teach me patience. I remember a story when I would play FPS games and it made me really impatient. Before those games I could have waited a while before I'd get irritated, but during those times it only took me 10 minutes before I got upset. My dad told me that patience is very important because patience is what people regard me as.
The promise my sister kept to me is that we'd be there for each other when our parents are no more. Me and my sister don't have the best relationship and I remember when my mother started crying because of how we treated each other. It made both of us realize that after our parents had passed, the only people that we had we're each other
My mother promised me that she would always support me no matter how hard it would get. I remember when I failed my Geometry test and she told me that one test wouldn't define who I am and that she'd help me even if she didn't know how to do it. That moment made me motivated to keep on studying and do better.
Aayush promised me that he would help me relax when I'm stressed. He promised that he'd talk with me and play video games together. One time I was having a hard time with my never ending loss streak on a game, but then he told me to just stop playing, which was something I didn't think of. We then proceeded to play a calmer co-op game where I had more fun.
Will promised me that he would teach me the ways of surviving Mr. Firmeza's band class. One time, I forgot my pencil and before Mr. Firmeza could give me a zero, Will reminded me and I was able to avoid a very bad grade in band class.
My aunt promised me a domicile when my parents wouldn't be at home. My aunt would let me stay at her house while my parents were working. She promised me a safe and protected home where she gave me food and everything I asked. I remember last year, I'd walk to her house every day and she'd greet me and treated me better than a guest.
My uncle promised me that he'd teach me the way of the streets. He told me about how people weren't always nice and you can't depends on the kindness of strangers. I remember one time we were arguing on whether the hotel clerk was racist or not because she wasn't allowing us to get a room because we were using a military ID for a discount, but my uncle from the navy wasn't present, so the clerk wouldn't give us the room. When he arrived, she was still persisting that we couldn't get the room. My uncle would tell me that not everybody is nice and not to favor people.
Dr. Schott promised me that he'd counsel me on anything I ever had trouble with. Being my French and advisory teacher, I'd basically see him everyday and be the teacher I spent the most amount of time with. I recall one time when I was having trouble with my English essay because I was unsure of the structure and afraid of what my grade would be. Dr. Schott used up his time that he could have used for work and decided to help me fix my rough draft.
My uncle promised me that he'd pick me up whenever I needed him. I remember one time when I got injured and couldn't walk home, he picked me up from all the way on the other side of town just to help me get back home. He made me realize that I can depend on people, but they're people I trusted.
My grandfather promised me that he'd teach me to manage my money. I remember back in the Philippines when he gave me a big paper bill and gave me instructions on how much to spend and how much to save. It ignited my interest in financial literacy and making sure I'd be good with money and never struggle with panic buying.
My grandma promised me that she'd cook the best foods when I'm in town. I remember one time when I came back to the Philippines after 3 years, she was so happy to see me and my family, that she cooked up 3 meals that we'd eat for our entire stay.
Sean promised me that we would endure track and field together. Last year, me and sean would go do track and do sprints together. One time, I was almost about to throw up, but then Sean told me to keep on breathing and we'd get through practice together.
