Learners will create a habitat for a squirrel. In the classroom I will have a teddy-bear that is a squirrel, I will tell the students that we have a squirrel in our classroom and his name is Mr Squirrels. I will tell the children that we have a problem, Mr Squirrels is hiding and maybe if we make an Autumn garden with some acorn trees he will come out and say hello! The investigation phase will be lead by me, I will read the students a storybook on the habitat of a squirrel. I will ask some questions after the story. The design phase will be when the students come up with ideas on how they can make a comfortable home for Mr Squirrels and what they can use to make it. The design process will be where the children go outside and collect their materials such as leaves, sand, etc. The students will stick their materials onto their page and are allowed to add some more details for example, they used the leaves as a tree and will now use their pastels to make the trunk of the tree. The evaluation phase will be where I give each student worksheet that tells them the things that need to be included in their habitat. I will read each of the things that need to be included and the children must add a tick if they have it and a cross if they don't. The children will then see how they could have improved their Autmn garden. The communication phase will be where the students present their artwork habitat to the class visually and verbally. I will then conclude the lesson by asking a series of questions.
