        Discuss the colours and shapes of 10 different vegetables: Carrots: normally bright orange, but there are also purple, red, yellow and white carrots. The shape is long and cylindrical with a slightly pointed tip.
        sweet potatoes: the colour ranges from light tan to a deep reddish-purple and the flesh ranges from orange, purple or white.
        onions: white, yellow, purple or red. The shape is round, and some are more elongated, with layers of peel.
        lettuce: different shades of green. The lettuce leaves are broad, rounded, and crinkled.
        asparagus: green, the shape are long, slim stalks with a spear tip.
        brussels sprouts: green, small, round shape, resembling a cabbage.
        Broccoli: green colour. The head resembles a tree with a firm, thick stalk.
        potatoes: brown, red, yellow, purple. oval or round shape with a smooth or rough texture.
        spinach: dark green leaves. oval shaped with crinkled edges.
        garlic: white or light tan colour. oval shape with multiple cloves arranged around the centre.

        Evaluate different vegetables. Cut different vegetables in half and discuss how it looks and feels. let the students draw their favourite vegetables accurately.

        Show real or pictures of uncommon vegetables. Tell them about certain fruits we use as vegetables like cucumbers, peppers, avocados, and tomatoes (The reason it is considered as a fruit and not a vegetable is because it grows on a plant unlike vegetables that grown in the ground.)

    - - Vegetables comes from different regions across South Africa. It depends on the climate and soil conditions. steps for growing vegetables are preparing the soil, planting the seeds, watering the plants, sunshine and growing, taking care of the plants, harvesting, packing and delivering and eating.
  - - - Give each student a map of the Western Cape and the teacher has a big map of the Western Cape. As the teacher is marking the vegetables farms' location, the students have to do the same and draw what vegetable farm there is, like for a tomato farm, draw tomatoes.

Water the seeds frequently. this is a continuous and ongoing activity. Students write down their predictions and observations.
