Colours and shapes of vegetables
Characteristics the soil must have to have a successful harvest of vegetables
Sgaravatti (01.10.2024) recommends that not only physical activity is needed to obtain healthy and tasty fresh vegetables but also learning about agriculture and the choice of vegetable seeds.
The learners will go outside into the school garden and plant different vegetable seeds using their gloves and appropriate tools that i will give them. We will discuss the right amount of water that needs to be in the soil. They will then make predictions as to how the vegetable seed is going to grow over the next few weeks and if it will be successful.
Technology
Vegetable sorting
Types of green vegetables
Johna (2024) states that green vegetables include Swiss chard, kale, collard greens and spinach
learners will make the vegetables that they think are green, out of green play dough.
Greenhouse for vegetables
The importance of a greenhouses
J. Huete Greenhouses (2022) state that the advantages of a greenhouse include aspects like optimum sealing against rain and air as well as increased production
The learners will gather recyclable materials from the classroom and at home and design their own greenhouse.

Where vegetables come from
The need for farmers
Jenny and Pula (2018) state that farming is not just a job, it is a way of life and includes having a passion for it as well as being a team player.
I will take learners to the school garden outside and ask each learner to take turns in role playing being the farmer and the other learner, a person buying the vegetables. This will enable learners to communicate to one another and express their ideas on farming while seeing the importance of a farmer.
Conservation of vegetables
Impact of climate change for the growth of vegetables
Majid, Tajamul and Ishfaq state that a constantly high temperature causes an array of morpho-anatomical changes in plant which can have an effect on the seed germination and plant growth.
I will ask learners to do write down the weather for today. is it hot, is it cold, is it windy. Then I will ask learners to take their findings home and for the following day, write the weather for the morning before they get to school. Once they have done that, we will discuss the difference in the weather from the previous day to the current day.
