Colours and shapes of vegetables
Vegetables are divided into five colour categories. (Nutrition Australia:2014) The shapes of vegetables are determined by the cells in the plants. (ro: Research Outreach:2020)
Learners can cut out pictures of different vegetables and paste them in five different colour columns.
Tastes and Textures
The taste of the food or vegetables are often the first thing a person think of that is complemented by the texture that enhances the overall flavour. (Paradise Fruits:2024)
The learners can each bring cut up and already processed vegetables to school to make sosaties with that they can eat afterwards and experience the different textures and flavours of vegetables

Where vegetables come from
There are three main ways vegetables can grow. Firstly some are roots or bulbs. Secondly some vegetables can grow on a vine. The third way is that vegetables can start sprouting up above ground with roots. (Wordpress: 2012)
Learners can work in groups and each group can take one of three ways vegetables can grow and create a poster with different types of vegetables that grow in that way.
We need to eat vegetables
Vegetables give children a lot of energy. Eating vegetables protects children against diseases. (RaisingChildren.net.au.: 2024)

If we wash our produce we remove any dirt and bacteria that can be found on the vegetables. (Eating Well:2022)

School kitchens need fresh vegetables to create healthy food for the learners
The learners can decide to start a garden with the help of their teacher to produce fresh vegetables for their school kitchen
