Peer-Reviewed scholarly published articles
Serves as secondary resources for others
Provides scientists with up-to-date information on a topic
Gives critical evaluation of the original research finding of others
Meant for readers of academic journals
Mainly primary literature some secondary literature
Written by professional scientist, sometimes in conjunction with postdoctoral fellow and student
Make the information understandable to scientist in related field
How to decide on a topic for a review
Select topic of appeal and importance
Look at tertiary sources first to get an idea, secondary sources to work on an outline, and primary sources to fill in the outline
How to write a term or review paper
Review and term papers follow the overall structure: Title Abstract (not always required), Introduction, Main Analysis section, Conclusion and/or recommendations, Acknowledgements (only for articles for publications), References
Title
Make the title short and informative
Abstract
Write in paragraph form and include: Background, Problem statement, Topic review, and overview content
Not all review article require this.
Is essentially a table of contents in paragraph form
Introduction
Organize the introduction into: Background, Unknown or problem, Topic overview
Provides a bigger picture of the topic and grabs readers attention.
Phase the topic statement carefully
Main Analysis
Organize section into logical subsections: Chronologically, Thematically, Methodically.
Conclusion
Summarize your topic, generalize any interpretation, and provide some significances
Create an outline and subsections based on gathered information
Write iteratively
