        Strength of the relatonship: implies that we are interested in knowinghow closey related the risk factor is to the disease
        
        Dose-response relationship: is the relationship n where the more you do something elevates your risk of something else
        
        Consistency: implies studies in different geographic areas and among a wide range of groups produce similar results
        
        Biological plausibility: implies that we can explain the occurence of disease based upon known and accepted biological mechanisms
