Ecology & Ecosystems
-
-
Biosphere
Any place on earth where life can exist
Water, air
-
Ecosystem
Community of organisms interaction with each other and the environment
Grassland Ecosystem: moss, daisies, earthworms, grasses etc
Hedgerow Ecosystem: bramble, blackberry, wrens, rats etc

2 Parts of an Ecosystem
Abiotic parts
The non-living part of the environment,
E.G Soil temp, air temp, water temp
Biotic parts
The living part of the environment
E.G Plants, animals, bacteria
Population
Group of individuals of the same species adapted to live i that area
E.G population of crows or bluebells
Adaptions
Means they have evolved/changed to fit in and survive in that area. Adaptions is to increase the chance of survival

Food chains
Shows one species at each trophic level and the organisms that feed on each other in an ecosystem, i.e the flow of energy
E.G Oak Leaf--->Slug--->Thrush--->Hawk
Grazing food chain
Begins with living processer, a plant
E.G Grass--->Rabbit--->Fox
Rosebush--->Greenfly--->Ladybird--->Thrush
-
