Formation
Extrusion
- We put thermoplastic, in granular form, Into a previously heated cylinder
- We apply pressure by means of a large, rotating screw, which forces the melted material out, through a nozzle
- We cool the shaped material slowly until is solid
- We collect the pieces of plastic through a feeder system
Lamination
Thermoplastic produced by the extrusion method are passed through a
series of hot cylinders to produce sheets of varying thtckness
Vacuum former
- We put thermoplasttc into a mould
- We then use a heater to heat the mould and soften the plastic
- We extract the air below the sheet and the desired form is created
- We leave the mould to cool, then remove the plastic

Classification
-
Thermostable
-
When heated they can be shaped slightly, but once cooled they become hard and cannot be shaped
-
Elastomers
Made with vulcanisation
mixing sulphur and rubber, and heating to
(60'C
They are hard, resistant and very elastic, stretching easily under force
-
Origin
Synthetic
made from compounds extracted from
petroleum, natural gas and carbon
